Terms of Use
Last updated: October 20, 2026
1. Acceptance
By using this Site or the ledger application (the "Service") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that business.
2. What the Service is — and is not
The Service is a self-service tool for recording food waste events at a food business, estimating the cost of those events, and producing a printable summary of them.
- It is not a regulatory filing system, and it does not submit anything to any agency.
- It is not legal, environmental, accounting or tax advice.
- It does not guarantee that a given authority will accept an exported report as evidence of compliance.
- Weight figures are estimates derived from quantity and unit, not scale measurements.
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for meeting the record-keeping obligations that apply to your business.
3. Status, cost and availability
The Service is provided free of charge. There is no payment system connected to it, no subscription, and no billing mechanism; no payment details are collected anywhere on the Site. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn. There is no service-level commitment and no guarantee of availability, uptime or data durability. Because all data lives in your browser, it can be lost if you clear site data, use private browsing, switch devices, or if the browser reclaims storage. Export anything you need to keep.
4. Your account and your device
You are responsible for activity under your account on your device. The password is a local convenience lock only, is not transmitted anywhere, and is not a security guarantee against someone with access to the device. Do not reuse a password from another service. If the Service is used on a shared kitchen tablet, you are responsible for signing out.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to store unlawful content, or data you have no right to hold.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the Site's hosting.
- Frame, mirror or resell the Service as your own product without written permission.
- Present an exported report as an official government or third-party certification document.
6. Fees
There are none, and none are planned for this Service. No price is displayed, no payment method is requested, and no billing code exists. Any future product that requires paid infrastructure (for example multi-device sync, which needs a server) would be a separate offering with its own terms, presented separately, and never applied retroactively to this Service.
7. Intellectual property
The Site's design, text and code are owned by the operator of refood.com. The data you enter is yours. You may export it at any time in CSV or JSON and use it for any lawful purpose.
The domain refood.com is a generic, descriptive combination of the prefix "re" and the common noun "food". Nothing in these terms claims exclusive rights in that word, and nothing here should be read as a claim of trademark rights in "refood" generally.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of refood.com is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, fines, or failed inspections arising from use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty US dollars.
10. Third-party names
Any third-party trade name, brand or organisation referenced on the Site remains the property of its owner and is used, if at all, only for identification or comparison. No endorsement, sponsorship or partnership is implied. If you believe the Site infringes your rights, write to hello@refood.com with details and we will respond promptly; we will remove or amend material where that is the right outcome.
11. Changes
These terms may be updated as the Service develops. The date at the top reflects the current version. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under mandatory local law. Contact: hello@refood.com.
